I’m blogging from my mom’s desktop. Why? Because my laptop died. I’ve got a few ideas as to why, but I need someone who knows what they’re doing to help me figure it out. In the meantime, I’ve installed Windows Live Writer and Tweetdeck on the desktop, so I’m good to go!
This past weekend, I worked at the lakehouse from Friday – Sunday. I hate being the youngest grandkid (and a girl, sometimes) because I want so badly to help, but I don’t have the handyman skills that a lot of my cousins do. I feel like a little kid when I say “hey guys, can I help?” and I don’t want them to assign me some measly task just to appease me. I was able to do a few big helpful things this time, like cutting wood…
…then helping to nail that wood to the floor joists for the deck…
…as well as carrying boards to and fro.
I swam in the lake for the first time this year in a new suit I got at Old Navy; it looks a little like this but has fabric wrapped across the front, in a navy/plum color:
I can’t believe it was the first suit I tried on and it actually looks pretty good on me! I felt more confident in that suit than I have in a swimsuit in a long time!
I got a good bit more tan and a few good bruises to show for my work this weekend; this one I’m particularly proud of, caused by dropping a 2x6 on my arm:
Last night, I turned to the grill to scratch an itch I’ve had for awhile. I wanted a burger with blue cheese and balsamic vinegar – I have this craving pretty often, I guess! On the side, I made squash and zucchini with EVOO and Cavender’s Greek Seasoning.
The burgers were stuffed with blue cheese, I sautéed some onions to put on top, and I reduced some balsamic vinegar to drizzle all over. I also served it with baby arugula.
Just what I had been jonesin’ for!
What’s your favorite thing to throw on the grill?
