I had a pretty fab weekend, I’m pleased to report! I tried planning ahead for events instead of finding myself hungry within arm’s reach of bar food. Saturday I made a big lunch and then headed out to a baseball game with some friends (which sadly got rained out halfway through).
I wanted to join the impromptu slip ‘n’ slide that resulted on the field, but we had other places to go afterward.
We left the game early and went to a couple of different places, and I’m proud to admit I didn’t go overboard on beer, and I didn’t eat bar food. My giant lunch and protein bar snack stayed with me all night! Woohoo for planning and budgeting!
Sunday afternoon, I had an awesome salad for lunch:
…then attempted a run to work off some nervous energy; it was only 83° with only 77% humidity, so I took it outside. Yikes. I think I didn’t wait long enough between eating and running, and the weather worked against me. I made it about a mile before I had to stop, then I alternated running and walking the rest of the way home. I estimate I ran about 1.5 miles. Not bad, but I was hoping for 2. I just felt so HEAVY…ugh.
Yesterday evening, I ran around Columbia with a friend “practicing photography.” Quotes because I kept the camera in automatic mode most of the time – I really need to crack open my Nikon D3000 for Dummies book and study. I’m happy with the way some of them turned out, though (after I ‘shopped them, of course!).
I hadn’t eaten dinner but decided to go with him and our friends out for coffee afterward – I’m trying to cut dairy out of my diet (or at least cut back), so I got a sugar-free caramel soy latte. I’m fairly certain my tummy troubles can be blamed on dairy and/or gluten, so I’m trying to be sleuthy about my diet and figure out how different foods make me feel. When I got home at like 10:30, I made scrambled eggs, because I’m random like that.
What did you do this weekend? Do you plan your meals ahead of time? I’d like to try, but it seems like a HUGE lifestyle change.
