Clemson blue cheese and Pumpkin Beer

This is a totally random post, but these products need some plugs!

First off, my alma mater has made their own Clemson blue cheese since the early 40s, and I always pick some up for my parents when I’m up there.

Clemson Blue Cheese

The history is pretty interesting; they used to cure and store the cheese in Stumphouse Tunnel, a creepy unfinished railroad tunnel not too far from Clemson.  I’ve been there several times, and it’s cool and dank and scary in there – the perfect environment for curing cheese!  Now that the weather is getting cooler and shipping cheese is a little less scary, go order some!

Secondly, I’m a pumpkin beer whore.  My favorite has always been Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale from Anheuser-Busch, even though I’ve tried dozens of others.  (Seriously, I stock up and enjoy pumpkin beer all year long…expiration date be damned).  But now, I think Jack has been dethroned.

Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale

Crappy label, awesome beer.  It’s by Smuttynose, and it’s not too spicy!  I know with craft beers like this, opinions vary wildly, but at first taste I knew this one was good.  If you’re a fan of pumpkin and/or beer, seek this out!  They even have a cute spotted seal on their logo!

What’s your favorite “weird” flavored beer?  I just tried Wells banana bread beer last week that was pretty awesome!
