Goody New-Shoes!

So yesterday I went to the running store…and was almost scared out by a pack of wild runners! It would’ve been smart for me to call ahead, but nooo, I’m not that clever. It turns out that they host a running club that was meeting at this particular time, and the entire store was PACKED. I went up to the door and just saw a bunch of people standing around in running gear, so I politely yielded and waited my turn on the sidewalk for their pow-wow to be over. It was so funny how they all filed out of there…I made the comment to my mom, “it’s like clowns pouring out of a Volkswagen!” I tried to say it quietly, though, because any one of them could’ve kicked my ass. It was funny, a couple of them walked out of the meeting before the rest of the group and stayed outside near us on the sidewalk. Old habits die hard

This past weekend was our 2nd work weekend at the lakehouse (our 1st one was recapped here ). While I only worked one day last time, this time I stayed from Friday to Sunday (read: worked twice as hard as before). Everything is still sore. On Friday, my uncle cut down three trees on the property, and we all helped haul them down to the bank limb by limb . First mistake – instead of drinking ALL my shakes that day like I should’ve and then supplementing as needed with proteins and veggies (not on the agenda this week, but I’d totally allow it after working hard), I only had my first morning shake and then subsisted on trail mix all day. TRAIL. MIX. With M&Ms. Not the worst thing in the world, but it didn’t do me any favors. And here’s the kicker - I planned well . I set myself up for success. I brought all my shakes along with me. While I’ve been mulling over how to write my first post of The Society Series , I happened upon this quote by Ellen DeGeneres from Us Magazine that introduces my topic: "It's a double standard because there are men with really beautiful women that don't have great bodies, and yet nobody's saying anything about that," she tells Katie Couric on CBS Evening News .
